Point 1: What I liked and disliked about online micro-teaching:
Likes:
What I liked about micro-teaching is the fact that it is flexible. teachers who teach online can teach at the comfort of their own homes. this means that my borders or even walls do not limit me to teaching only in south africa, with micro-teaching, teachers can teach anywhere in the world.
There is also no pressure to get up ealier to rush to schools or be stuck in traffic, which is a waste of petrol and time.
I am teaching in the comfort of my own home. I liked the fact that it is less expensive to teach online, all I needed was good internet connection and good online resources which learners where able to access easily since they were also technologically savvy.
Dislikes:
What I disliked about mirco-teaching is that you wont really know as a teacher if your learners understand the work enough for you to move on to the next topic. you also do not have access to facilitate to ensure that learners are all engaged and are participating in the lesson unless of you ask them questions.
With physical learning, the teacher can walk around the classroom and facilitate learners discussions, group work, and activities, but with online learning, the teacher cannot be fully sure if the learners understand the work.
The teacher or even learners can struggle with internet connection. I had a learner during the session who struggled with internet connection and that delayed the whole classroom because we cannot move on to the next part of the lesson without the learner and if we do, I might need to repeat what I said to the other learners to ensure that everyone is up to speed.
The teacher has to put in a lot more effort to ensure that learners are engaged and not bored before the lesson ends. zi had to sure that I included games, slides, and teach content in a more interesting way to ensure that learners remain engaged with the lesson. I had to use a lot of learner-centred strategies to make sure learners understand. learners could easily get bored if the teacher does not pay attention or even use interesting resources.
Point 2: New skills I learnt through the expereince of micro-teaching.
Skill 1: Time Management: I had to learn to time my lessons effectively in a way that is realistic. I had to ensure that I save some time for questions and unexpected turn arounds in the lesson to ensure that all learners understood the work at the end of the day. I also had to ensure that I include enough content that I would be able to teach in the given time.
Skill 2: Stimulating virtual learning environment: Learners who learn virtually using have limited attention span, meaning that I had to put more time into researching how to create a visually stimulating learning environment so that the learning objectives that I set for the lesson are achieved.
Skill 3: Adaptability and curriculum support: the curriculum that I used to create and plan for the online lesson is not meant for an online space, I had to ensure that I adapt the curriculum to fit the online space and also substitute some parts of the curriculum outline with online plateforms that are relevent to the topic that was tuaght.
Point 3: What would I do differently:
I would have given learners more time to participate in the lesson with interupting them. This means allowing learners to explain and express what they wanted to say without interrupting them or even answering some questions for them.
I would have also made the font of the slides slightly bigger for learners who have vision problems to see.
Point 4: Tools used for Micro-teaching:
The tools I used for micro teaching were appropriate for the grade seven level. learners where given a game to play which tested them on the knowledge that was tuaght. I also used an AR/VR video for the lesson which is also fun and interactive.
Point 5: How this expereince developed you for teaching in a school.
Micro-teaching allowed me to see the areas of development that I needed to consider. areas such as time management, which will help me teach content at a faster pace in an effective way. Micro-teaching also tuaght me to adapt to different situations, I believe my experience with online teaching has prepared me for challenges such as hybrid teaching and more.
Feedback from peers:

I thank Francesca for the feedback she gave me. I agree with the feedback given to me by Francesca, I should have been more careful with the typos and the fonts used.

I thank Kaley for the feedback she gave me. I do not agree with adding more content in the lesson. The reason is that I did not want content overload, The lesson was an introductory lesson to the learners, meaning they did not know the basics so I needed more time to ensure that I cover all the basics I needed to for the lesson.

I thank Hope for the feedback that she gave me. I agree with the suggestions she gave me. I should have allowed learners to answer questions and participate without interrupting them. I also agree with not randomly choosing learners to a certain extent, I did so to see if all learners understood the content, which might have been uncomfortable for them, but it gave me a lot of feedback that I needed.

Thank you Larishka for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

Thank you Sharai for the feedback you have given me.
I will ensure that i keep that in mind to ensure that I ask and access if learners have the proper devices and internet connection for online games.

Thank you for the Mrs Naidoo. I appreciate it.
I will take the suggestion and apply it to my next lesson.

The points that you made in your reflection is realistic and valuable in the 21st century. Your lesson was very engaging and well planned. I enjoyed the fact that you put some learners on the spot and asked them to answer the questions rather than them volunteering to answer, I believe this showed that you always made sure your learners were paying attention and concentrating while you were teaching. I know that you are going to be an amazing and fun teacher in future. All the best for the future.
